Cox, who was running her 11th marathon, told Eyewitness News that she finished the race about two minutes before the first blast went off. Cox finished the race in 4:06.16. She said she heard the first explosion and another shortly after and was led away from the scene and found her cell phone.

"We were led away from the explosion. The race personnel were wonderful," Cox told the Eyewitness News anchors. "They tried to get us out of the area as quickly as possible."

Cox then retrieved her cell phone and called her husband ,who was waiting in the finish line area.

"Well, once I was able to get my cell phone, I texted him to let him know that I was okay," Cox said. "He knew I had crossed the finish line. He just sprinted towards the finish line area. He was on a parallel street and move through the crowds to where I was. He did see wounded people."
