A 44-year-old man will avoid jail time but be on probation for several years after being arrested in Westchester for sexually abusing and then acting inappropriately in front of a minor. In February, Albert Orjuela of Valhalla was arrested and charged with forcible touching, and endangering the welfare of a child following a complaint about alleged sexual contact with at least two minors. Orjuela was arrested the day after a warrant was issued for his arrest. A former BOCES teacher’s aide who brought a loaded gun into a Rockland County school has been sentenced. Warwick resident Gillian Jeffords, who worked at the Jesse J. Kaplan School in West Nyack will not spend time behind bars, but has been sentenced to three years probation following her arrest early last year for criminal possession of a weapon in a school. A former police officer has been sentenced after pleading guilty to attempting to engage in an elaborate cover-up after he hospitalized two people in a hit-and-run crash in Westchester before driving away. A longtime Tarrytown Union Free School District secretary and Putnam County resident has been sentenced to probation and must pay restitution after stealing more than $10,000 from her employer. Lake Peekskill resident Carol Ressa, 54, has been sentenced to five years probation in Westchester County Court, and ordered to finish paying restitution of the balance due to the school district, $2,929.56, during her first 12 months of probation.
