Labor Day marked the unofficial end of summer. It also led to the much-awaited easing of severe drought conditions in much of the region as drenching downpours moved through the region during the afternoon, evening, and overnight hours. A widespread system will bring separate rounds of storms to much of the region. The time frame for storm activity on Monday, Aug. 22 is from the early morning hours through the evening, with up to 1 to 2 inches of much-needed rainfall possible, before another round of storms is expected on Tuesday, Aug.23. These US States Most At Risk For Blackouts This Summer, New Report Says
As temperatures climb, attention is turning toward the nation’s power grids and whether they can handle the added demand this summer. Though the Northeast should fare well, much of the US is facing an elevated risk of power blackouts between June and September, according to a report from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).
