Bedford Police say Peter Peer, the driver of a Mercedes SUV, was pronounced dead at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco. Peer was being transported to Westchester Medical Center by Katonah-Bedford Ambulance when he was redirected to Northern Westchester Hospital after going into cardiac arrest, police said.

Two passengers, an 18-year-old female and 16-year-old male, were taken to Westchester Medical Center by Lewisboro Ambulance. They have since been released.

Preliminary investigation shows the Mercedes was traveling eastbound on Old Post Road when it veered across the westbound lane, Bedford Police said, adding that an investigation is ongoing.

The crash occurred near Indian Hill Road and the intersection of Route 22, just before 1 p.m. Saturday.

The accident resulted in the closure of a stretch Old Post Road (Route 121) between Seminary Road and Stone Hill Road near Indian Hill Park for approximately four hours, starting at about 1 p.m., according to Bedford Police.
