Hastings Police Reports: Crosswalk Violations

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Hastings police issued five summonses and impounded a vehicle after officers posed as pedestrians as part of a public safety operation by Hastings High School.

Police conducted a safety check on March 28. Police said an officer was walking the crosswalks on Farragut at Mt Hope Boulevard and on Rosedale at Mt Hope Boulevard to see if drivers would yield for pedestrians. One summonses was issued to a Hastings resident but the other four, including a 58-year-old Yonkers man who had his car impounded, went to non-residents. The car was impounded for revoked registration, police said.

Identity Theft- A 74-year-old Hastings woman told police that she was the victim of identity theft recently. Police said the woman was trying to file her taxes online on March 27 and her accountant informed her that someone else had already filed returns in her name. Police referred her to credit agencies for further assistance.

Identity Theft- A 72-year-old Hastings woman told police she lost her wallet on March 30. The woman said the wallet contained various debit and credit cards along with $300 in cash.  Police said the woman reported that fraudulent purchases had already been made on one of the cards. Police gave her credit bureau information to contact.

Intoxicated Woman- Police said a 41-year-old Hastings woman was seen on Warburton Avenue “possibly with a stick vandalizing cars” on April 1 just after 11 p.m.  Police said the woman seemed highly intoxicated and was transported to the St. John’s Riverside hospital for treatment. No charges were filed by the vehicle owner and no arrests were made.
