Dobbs Ferry, Hastings Officials Post Pre-Storm Guidelines

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Dobbs Ferry Mayor Hartley Connett issued a statement late Tuesday concerning the forecast of a snow storm expected to begin late Wednesday into Thursday.

Hastings Police issued a storm emergency warning late Tuesday that included parking restrictions on several local streets.

"Forecasting is never exact, but regardless of what the weather throws our way we know Dobbs Ferry’s DPW crews and Public Safety Departments will be standing ready to keep things clear and moving safely through our village," Connett said.

The current projection for snowfall accumulation is for 10-14 inches in most of Westchester and 6-9 inches in and around New York City. Some areas north and west, mainly outside of Westchester, could see even more.

Connett noted that there are approximately 26 miles of winding roadways in the village, in addition to sidewalks, parks, and municipal parking lots which need to be kept clear and maintained.

"The planning and logistics that takes place behind the scenes to tackle winter snow and ice storms is impressive; the crews work around the clock when the big storms come through – and it is hard work," Connett said. "But like all good operations, it also comes down to the people. In Dobbs Ferry we are lucky to have such a dedicated team of workers."

Residents are being asked to pay strict attention to snow emergency parking restrictions that allow snow removal crews to clear streets.
