Ardsley Adjusts Recycling Collection Schedule

ARDSLEY, N.Y. - The Village of Ardsley has made several changes to it recycling collection schedule effective Jan. 1.

In a message to village residents, Mayor Peter Porcino and Village Manager George Calvi said full information has been mailed to residents and the new schedules would help reduce garbage collection while increasing the amount of recycling materials.

"This saves the village money and there are added benefits to the health of our sanitation workers, not to mention the environmental benefits," Porcino said. "Everyone needs to make sure they are separating recyclables from garbage as commingling can mean sever fines for the village."

The new collection schedule

Mondays: Regular garbage pick-up for the south side of the village (no change from present routes and dates). Tuesdays: Regular garbage pick-up for the rest of the village (no change from present routes and dates). Wednesdays: Paper recycling for the entire village. Thursdays: Commingled glass, metal and plastic recycling for the entire village. Fridays: Extra garbage pick-up for the entire village.
