HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Metal music lovers had the opportunity to spend some quality time with the Misfits, one of the originators of the heavy metal, horror-punk genre, during an album signing at Hastings' Clockwork Records Saturday.
Mike Cioffi of Dobbs Ferry and Chris Bojemski of Sleepy Hollow, both 19, dropped by to meet the Misfits, who sent two hours taking photos, signing albums and talking music with the fans.
"I guess I grew up liking metal music," Cioffi said. "Misfits have mix heavy metal and the lyrics are creative. It good to get a chance to see them here."
Clockwork's owner Mike James arranged the signing as an introduction to his record store that opened last month in the village. The niche record store specializes in vinyl recordings -- rock and other genres - but also sells CDs by a variety of artists.
"These guys (Misfits) are great with their fans," James said. "We're glad they could come by for us."
Misfits Jerry Only, Dez Cadena and Eric "Chupacabra" Arce, seemed to enjoy the afternoon as much or more than the fans. The trio signed copies of the group's latest live album "DEA.D. ALIVE" on vinyl and "Twilight of the Dead", a 12-inch single record available on Misfits Records.
"Good people," Only said. "We have great fans and we always have a good time at these signings. Lots of good friends came by."
