HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Alive with music and art, craft vendors, food fellowship, the 8th Annual Take Me To The River Music and Arts Festival will take over Draper Park in Hastings-on-Hudson on a new rain date, Sunday, September 7, in a farewell to summer.

Produced by 12 Miles North, the ever-growing Take Me To the (Hudson) River event will include 21 live concerts, two dance performances, over a dozen local food and beverage trucks, new art installations, workshops and outdoor children’s activities with the expectation that more than 2,000 people will move through the venue from noon to 10 p.m.

What began as an ultra-local seed of an idea back in 2007 has blossomed into a must-see regional event.

“Take Me to the River Festival continues to attract a growing, enthusiastic audience each year,” said Lizabeth Sipes-Liebeskind, director of 12 Miles North and Producer of the Festival.

President of the Hastings-on-Hudson Chamber of Commerce Carl Carvalho said 12 Miles North has brought the Rivertowns communities together in its local events.

“The events produced by 12 Miles North bring such a level of creative genius that people keep coming back for more,” Carvalho said.“12 Miles North knows how to bring a community together and touch people deeply. They have almost single handedly brought vitality and excitement back into our village.”

An added plus for the event is reducing its carbon footprint with Solar Stage, Recycling Centers and more.

Whether you come for the live music, ice cream, or yoga workshops, the Festival has something for everyone. Sophisticated music lovers come to hear Grammy award-winning artists alongside bands right on the brink of stardom. The full concert line-up is divided into two performance stages: the Lunar Stage (dedicated to national acts); and the Solar Stage (dedicated to local bands). Diversified musical programming ranges from jazz/blues (John Patitucci Trio, Duke Robillard Band), and country/bluegrass (The Howlin’ Brothers!) to indie-rock (Outernational) and funk (High and Mighty Brass Band).

Dedicated to providing an eco-friendly environment, the Festival will minimizes its carbon footprint by utilizing a solar powered stage, supporting organic, local vendors, and educating Festival goers at its Practically Green booth. Children will be taught how to recycle at the Kids Funky Flea Recycling center.

According to Sipes-Liebeskind, “It’s imperative that we have a positive social impact on our community.”

The Festival welcomes some of Hudson Valley’s culinary best including French Press, Sakura Garden, Lemon Love, Blue Pig Ice Cream Company, Taiim Falafel Shack, etc., while the Beverage Garden is stocked with locally crafted beer and lemonades at the Beverage Garden.

Workshops for yoga, songwriting as well as spontaneous dance performances by the Hubris Fire Dancers and an interactive Silent Disco will be presented. Some highlights of the children’s activities include the Zen Tree, Haven’s Spectacular Nature Tent, Musical Mosaic Instrument, Giant Acorn Sling Shot, Shaving Cream Finger Painting, and more.

Draper Park is off North Broadway just a mile north of Yonkers and a mile south of Dobbs Ferry in Hastings-on-Hudson. Commuters may use the Metro North Railroad to Hastings-on-Hudson where shuttle buses will take you to the park.

Tickets are $18 advance, $25 at door, $15 seniors and Students, $5 Kids Ages 10-17, Free Kids Ages 9 and Under. To purchase, visit the 12 Miles Norh website.
