Firefighters discovered improperly stored motor oil while fighting a blaze in Orange County — some of which ended up in storm drains in the area. The fire happened in Newburgh at around 8:08 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, when firefighters initially received a report of an outdoor blaze spreading to a garage in the area of 83 Benkard Ave., the City of Newburgh Fire Department said on Monday, July 6. Authorities are investigating a disturbance involving hundreds of people in Sullivan County on Independence Day that left two people injured. The incident happened at around 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, when officers responded to an incident at the Monticello Housing Authority Complex at 76 Evergreen Dr., according to the Monticello Police Department. Three families were displaced after part of a residence collapsed in Putnam County, leaving the structure unsafe to occupy. The collapse happened just after 12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 6, when firefighters and police responded to a home on See Avenue in Mahopac, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. Kao USA voluntarily recalled select lots of Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo, according to a company announcement posted by the Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday, July 1.
