A former high school basketball player who tried to carjack a woman in Bergen County led police on a pursuit before being taken into custody in Rockland, authorities said. Officers apprehended Jordan Dufont, age 23, after a foot chase in the town of Stony Point, Park Ridge Police Chief Joseph Madden said on Thursday, Aug. 17. Man Struck By Spring Valley-Bound PVL Train Seriously Injured
A man was was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a train in Westwood, NJ Transit officials said. The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. Friday evening and involved a train on the Pascack Valley Line, NJ Transit spokeswoman Kate Thompson told Daily Voice. The train had departed from Hoboken at 7:21 p.m., and was scheduled to arrive in Spring Valley at 8:40 p.m., she said. Missing Rockland Hikers Found, Firefighter Treated
A firefighter had to be treated for an undetermined injury after rescuers found four Rockland County hikers who’d become lost in the woods late Saturday night after crossing into New Jersey, responders said. One of the missing hikers was found near the Boy Scout camp in Alpine after they became lost in the Alpine-Rockleigh area, they said. Firefighters from Closter, Harrington Park, Old Tappan, Norwood and Northvale joined their colleagues from Orangetown in the search. The injured firefighter was taken to HUMC Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood.

Woman Faces DWI Charge After Crash In Rockland
The investigation into a driver who allegedly left the scene of a late-night car crash in Rockland County led to the arrest of a New Jersey woman who was allegedly driving with a blood alcohol content nearly triple the legal limit.
