'Preppy Killer' Robert Chambers Now Living In Rockland County
Robert Chambers, also known as the infamous "Preppy Killer," is now living in the Hudson Valley following his recent parole from prison. Chambers, age 56, was released from the Shawangunk Correctional Facility in Ulster County on Tuesday, July 25, and is now residing in Rockland County, according to the state Department of Parole. A drowning teen from Rockland was resuscitated after his friends pulled him from a lake in the Ramapo mountains, authorities said. A 71-year-old Rockland man trying to help a Mahwah homeowner remove a tree branch from his roof following Tuesday’s storm lost his balance and fell nearly 20 feet off a ladder, authorities said. The victim, from Spring Valley, was conscious and alert but had a large cut on his forehead when officers arrived at the Wyckoff Avenue home shortly after 8 p.m., Mahwah Police Chief Stephen Jaffe said. Man Struck, Killed In NJ By Spring Valley Commuter Train, Service Suspended
A man was struck and killed in New Jersey by a commuter train that left from Spring Valley 15 minute earlier, authorities said. Service was suspended in both directions after the man was struck at 7:25 a.m. just west of the Park Ridge train station, New Jersey Transit's Nathan Rudy said. The 1612 train left Spring Valley at 7:10 a.m. for Secaucus Junction and had 180 customers and a crew aboard, Rudy said. NJ Transit buses and private carriers picked up the passengers, he said. A man was was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a train in Westwood, NJ Transit officials said. The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. Friday evening and involved a train on the Pascack Valley Line, NJ Transit spokeswoman Kate Thompson told Daily Voice. Pickup Truck Bursts Into Flames In Ramapo
Firefighters worked quickly to put out a blaze that fully engulfed a pickup truck in Spring Valley. First responders were dispatched to the intersection of Lawrence Street and Memorial Park Drive on Sunday afternoon, where there was a report of a car fire, which was captured on video, which has more than 3,000 views in less than a day. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters quickly worked to knock down the flames, and the fire was put out within minutes. No injuries were reported, and it is not clear what caused the blaze, which destroyed the vehicle.

Wanted Spring Valley Man Nabbed In New Jersey
A 31-year-old Rockland man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after a traffic stop in New Jersey, authorities said Friday. Mario McIntyre of Spring Valley was stopped by police in Fair Lawn, NJ, before dawn on March 14 because of a defective problem with his lights, authorities said. A computer check turned up a warrant out of the Passaic County, NJ town of Hawthorne, Fair Lawn Sgt. Brian Metzler said. McIntyre was issued a summons for improper maintenance of vehicle lamps and released after posting bail on the outstanding warrant, the sergeant said.
