Lithium Battery Causes Garage Fire In Hudson Valley While Homeowner Vacations A homeowner in the Hudson Valley came home from vacation to discover that a lithium battery had started a fire in their garage while they were gone, fire officials said.  The incident happened on Tuesday, July 18 just after 2 p.m., when members of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department were sent to a residence in the hamlet to respond to a report of a possible structural fire.  According to the department, the call came from a homeowner who had returned after six days away on vacation to find their single-car garage covered in soot and the charred remains of some of their belonging…

Woman Found Dead Inside Rockland Home Following Fire A woman was found dead inside her Rockland County home following an intense fire that heavily damaged the residence. The fire took place around 5:50 a.m., Wednesday, March 25, at 9 Wheeler Place in West Nyack, said the Clarkstown Police Department. Fully Involved Blaze Breaks Out At Two-Story House In Rockland Firefighters and police are on the scene of a fully-involved house fire in Tomkins Cove. The fire at 2 Soluri Lane started around 10:29 a.m., Friday, March 8, said the Stony Point Police Department. Smoke and fire are visible from the structure, officials said. Part of the structure is reported to have collapsed.  A two-story house is on fire at Tomkins Cove.Google Maps Stony Point and West Haverstraw fire departments are on the scene.  All residents and pets reportedly evacuated safely.
