The woman was found around 12:30 a.m., Thursday, March 26, when City of Newburgh police responded to 24 Dubois St., for a report of a fire inside a building where a person had been stabbed, said Det. ID Released For Man Killed In Rockland House Fire A man who died during an early morning fire in Rockland County has been identified. Michael Mantell, 75, of Nanuet, died around 6:20 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, during a fire at his home at 27 Amarillo Drive, said the Clarkstown Police Department. Fire crews were dispatched to a home in Orange County on Old Cahoonzie Road in Sparrowbush shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, where there was a report of a two-alarm structure fire. Upon arrival, officials said that firefighters found the home fully engulfed. It took crews less than an hour to knock down the flames. The blaze forced a temporary closure of Old Cahoonzie Road in both directions. No injuries were initially reported. Transformer Fire Causes Fuses To Explode In West Nyack A fire inside a transformer at the Orange & Rockland Utilities substation in West Nyack caused three fuses to pop startling residents in the area. The incident took place around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the substation at 195 E. Route 59 in West Nyack, said Mike Donovan, spokesman for O&R.  According to Donovan, a small fire broke out in the transformer located inside the substation.
