Two Hospitalized With Serious Injuries In Sloatsburg Head-On Crash

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two motorists, including a man charged with driving while under the influence of drugs and vehicular assault, were injured Friday afternoon after colliding head-on on Sterling Mine Road in Sloatsburg, Ramapo Police said.

Both drivers were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries after an eastbound vehicle operated by a 33-year-old man from Hewitt, N.J., crossed over the double yellow line and struck a westbound vehicle driven operated by a 51-year-old man from West Milford, N.J., according to police.

The 51-year-old was treated and released. The 33-year old was found to be under the influence of drugs and was arrested and charged. He was further charged with vehicular assault, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license and several vehicle and traffic law infractions, police said. He has been ordered to appear in the Village of Sloatsburg Court at a later date. He remains hospitalized in serious condition.
