Spring Valley Man Gets Prison Term In Criminal Contempt Case

SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- A Spring Valley man has been sentenced to two to four years behind bars for first-degree criminal contempt, police said.

Edwin Thezan, 27, was charged in 2014 after violating an order of protection and  was convicted in 2015.

Edwin Thezan, 27, who had been charged in 2014 after violating an order of protection and who was convicted last year, was sentenced Thursday, Jan. 28, in state Supreme Court by Justice William A. Kelly.

In 2014, police were called to a house on North Main Street in Spring Valley to investigate an argument. When they got there, they said they saw Thezan “subjecting” another person to physical contact in violation of an order of protection.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Janine Kovacs and Assistant District Attorney Nikitas Nicolakis.
