RAMAPO, N.Y. — Reducing your chances of being killed in an automobile crash is easy: Just put on your seatbelt, say the Ramapo Police, who are reminding residents to buckle up.

Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death for people between the ages of five and 34, according to Ramapo Police.

Wearing a seat belt in a crash reduces your chance of being killed or seriously injured by 50 percent, police say. They recommend all people in a vehicle wear a seat belt on every trip, no matter how short.
