Letter to NJ State Legislator

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am a resident of your district.  I am also a registered voter. I myself, a family member, or close friend serves this state and your community as a law enforcement professional.

Municipal police officers, county sheriff officers, county and state corrections officers, and the numerous officers that serve our state parks and colleges have all come under attack and are being vilified by the Governor’s administration and the media.  I want you to know clearly where I stand on the issues facing New Jersey’s Law Enforcement Officers.

1. I believe law enforcement officers have the basic right to negotiate their terms and conditions of employment in a collective bargaining process that includes binding arbitration.  Among those terms and conditions are Salary, Benefits, and Health Care Costs paid by employees.

2. I believe the crisis that exists within the police and fire pension system was created solely by elected officials, both past and present, who for their own political reasons, failed to meet their statutory obligation to fund the pension system as mandated by law.  This failure to fund the pension system is a violation of the government’s moral and legal requirements.

3. I will vote in the November General Election for candidates who share my views and will represent my concerns. I will encourage all my friends and family to vote in support of the candidates who will represent those views and oppose any candidate who would deny these rights to the men and woman who protect our society.

I support all those who serve and protect our communities and both the Fraternal Order of Police Lodges and the Policeman’s Benevolent Association Lodges throughout the State of New Jersey.  Please earn my support in future elections by supporting them as well.

Respectfully,
