The first fire at Pine Meadows began around 2:30 p.m. Sunday and spread to more than 30 acres before it was contained, said Dan Keefe, spokesman for the Parks Department.
The second fire, on Tom Jones Mountain, began around 11:45 p.m. and has consumed numerous acres, he added.
"At this point rangers are maintaining the fire and are hoping that rain forecast for Tuesday will help," Keefe said.
It's unknown what started the fires, but dry weather conditions have persisted across the area for months.
Tuesday's forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of rain with a quarter to half-inch possible, according to the National Weather Service.
