Driver Falls Asleep, Crashes Car In Montebello, Police Say

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A driver was injured early Monday when he fell asleep and plowed his car into a stand of trees off Route 202 in Montebello, Ramapo police said.

The one-car accident occurred about 5:35 a.m. about a quarter-mile east of Lake Road, police said.

The unnamed driver told authorities he was traveling from Suffern to Haverstraw when he dropped off to sleep behind the wheel.

His airbag deployed, police said.

No further details were available Monday.
