Susan Bernstein claims her husband, Ira Bernstein, promised her two properties in Rockland County and two apartments in New Jersey from their divorce negotiations, according to state Supreme Court papers filed with the Rockland County Clerk's Office in New City.
She took the legal action over the properties on May 5, a couple of days after Ramapo police charged her husband and his lover, Kelly Gribeluk, with a plot to have her killed by a hitman for $100,000, according to lohud.com
Videotapes, audio recordings and wiretaps show Ira Bernstein and Gribeluk plotting the killing with another man, who became a witness.
The couple initially filed for divorce in late 2014 and agreed within the proceedings on Feb. 26, 2016, to suspend so Ira Bernstein could transfer ownership of the properties within 30 days to his wife , according to lohud.com.
Susan Bernstein's legal action noted that her husband tried to use the properties as part of a bail package and the prosecutor opposed that move, leading his family to put up his $600,000 bail.
In addition to demanding Ira turn over the properties Susan Bernstein wants the court to order him to pay her $20,000 legal costs.
