RAMAPO, N.Y. -- An ongoing contract dispute with the Ramapo Teacher's Association has raised tensions in the Ramapo Central School District, according to lohud.com.

Teachers wearing blue T-shirts as a show of solidarity, as well as parents and students, turned out at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting at the district offices at 45 Mountain Ave., lohud.com said.

The showdown was a rare display of discord in the high-performing district of 4,950 students, lohud.com said.

The four-year contract for the 400-member union expired June 30. District officials say they've made multiple offers since fall 2014. They believe they are close to an agreement, although no terms have been disclosed, lohud.com said.
