The award, which was presented at the President’s Reception of the Regional Osteopathic Convention in Hauppauge on April 1, was given in recognition of Levitt’s unwavering commitment to patient care, excellent bedside manner and mentorship of students.
Dr. Levitt is an internal medicine physician with Clarkstown Medical Associates in New City a member of Highland Medical, which is affiliated with Nyack Hospital. He continues his family’s long heritage of healing as a third generation physician. Levitt received his doctor of osteopathy degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.
He completed his internship, internal medicine residency and chief residency at Baptist Medical Center of New York in Brooklyn. Prior to relocating to Rockland County in 1990 to be closer to his family, Levitt provided medical care to the under-served populations in West Virginia. During this time, Levitt helped develop protocols for thrombolytic therapy for use in myocardial infarctions while serving as medical director of the Intensive Care Unit at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, W. Va.
