CHESTNUT RIDGE, N.Y. – A 69-year-old woman may not be able to get back into her home until August after a ceiling collapse left her apartment in a senior complex off Hubert H. Humphrey Drive uninhabitable, according to lohud.com.
No one quite knows what caused Gwenette Lindsey’s ceiling to collapse on Wednesday, but Arco Management, the company that oversees the complex, said the building is structurally sound and will be repaired, according to lohud.com.
Much of Lindsey’s home and many of her belongings were damaged in the collapse, though her bedroom, bathroom and closets were spared, according to lohud.com.
Lindsey has been offered alternate housing while the repair work is completed, but has, so far, opted to stay with friends, according to lohud.com.
