POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Happy birthday to Spring Valley’s Julianna Margulies.
Margulies, who was born in the Rockland County village, turns 50 today.
The American actress and producer is best known for her portrayal of Nurse Carol Hathaway on NBC’s long-running hospital drama, “ER,” and of Alicia Florrick on CBS’ legal drama, “The Good Wife.”
She also voiced Neera in “Dinosaur,” and appeared in the miniseries, “The Mists of Avalon.”
Margulies has scooped up eight Screen Actor Guild Awards, making her the most awarded woman in SAG’s history. She also has a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
In 2015 she was named one of “Time” magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World.”
The youngest of three siblings, Margulies attended the Green Meadow Waldorf School in Chestnut Ridge, and High Mowing School, a private boarding school in New Hampshire.
She later graduated from Sarah Lawrence, a small, liberal arts college in Bronxville.
Margulies dated actor Ron Eldard for 12 years before splitting up with him in 2003.
She married attorney Keith Lieberthal, in 2007. The couple have one child and live in Manhattan.
