Time is winding down for New Yorkers to get their federally compliant REAL ID or Enhanced ID/driver's license ahead of a crucial deadline. Starting Wednesday, May 7, 2025, standard driver’s licenses or non-driver IDs will no longer be accepted for boarding domestic flights or entering certain federal facilities. Firefighters from six Hudson Valley fire departments saved a home after an automatic fire alarm sent help to the scene. The Rockland County blaze occurred in Orangeburg, at 96 Old Orangeburg Road, on Monday, Dec. 2. Orangeburg Police Capt. Michael Shannon said the fire was initially triggered by an automatic alarm. The Long Island hockey community is mourning the loss of a rising young star who collapsed and died during a charity game over Thanksgiving weekend. Connor Kasin, age 17, lost consciousness at around 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, during an intermission at the Town of Oyster Bay Skating Center on Stewart Avenue in Bethpage, Nassau County Police said. A car fire on a busy parkway in Westchester sent plumes of smoke into the air and impacted traffic.
