The advisory is in effect from 5 a.m. Thursday to 1 p.m. Thursday and was issued at 3:33 p.m. Wednesday by the weather service.
The projected snow accumulation range is 2 to 4 inches in Putnam with more snow in areas farther north and with higher terrain.
Snow is expected early in the morning which could make for a hazardous morning commute. Be prepared for snow covered and slippery roads and limited visibility, the National Weather Service.
Snow is likely before 9 a.m. Thursday, followed by sleet between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., then rain after 10 a.m., the weather service said.
The sun returns for much of the day Friday with the high temperature in the upper 30s, but there could be snow squalls in spots during the day.
There is a 30 percent chance of snow Saturday evening following a partly cloudy day with a temperature around 35.
