A Westchester woman will spend time in prison for shaking and bouncing a 3-month-old baby while employed as a nanny, causing him to suffer a seizure.
White Plains resident Nija Woodbury, age 23, was sentenced to six months in prison on Monday, Feb. 5 for assaulting a baby in her care while employed as a nanny, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced.
According to the DA's Office, at around 5 p.m. on Jan. 10, 2023, Woodbury had been employed as a nanny for a family from Mount Pleasant.

One hospital in the Hudson Valley is at the top of its class for keeping patients safe, according to a new report.
Westchester County's White Plains Hospital, located at 41 East Post Rd, has been assigned an "A" grade for patient safety in a new Fall 2022 report by the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization that advocates for safety in hospitals.

A Westchester man has pleaded guilty to committing a violent hate crime against a 67-year-old Asian woman who was entering her home.
District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that Yonkers resident Tammel Esco, age 42, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, to committing a violent hate crime on Friday, March 11 against the woman who was entering her apartment building.

Marketing Director Who Grew Up In Hudson Valley, Age 48, Leaves Behind 2 Young Sons
A woman who grew up in Westchester County and spent decades working in marketing has died at the age of 48.
Carolyn Anne Beal, of Barrington, Rhode Island, died peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from cancer and its complications, according to her obituary.
She grew up in Valhalla with her brothers David and Robert and graduated from Westlake High School. Her parents were Robert and Barbara Kirk.
She went on to attend Boston College, where she met some of her closest friends, her obituary said.
