New Store, Deli Opens For Business In Putnam Valley
A new grocery store and deli is now open in the Hudson Valley. Anita's Grocery & Deli, located in Putnam County at 299 Peekskill Hollow Rd. in Putnam Valley, held its grand opening on Saturday, Feb. 17. In attendance at the celebration was Putnam County Legislator Bill Gouldman, who announced the store's opening on social media. "We wish them best wishes. Let's show our support for these Putnam Valley residents," Gouldman wrote in his post. The store offers a selection of American, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian food.

Putnam's top elected official spoke out against a statement made by the county's district attorney’s statement over the $12 million settlement for Anthony DiPippo, who was twice convicted of raping and murdering a 12-year-old before being acquitted at a third trial. New Mahopac Schools Superintendent Is Local Resident, Ex-Lakeland Educator
A popular New Rochelle educator is moving on up to Putnam, where he will serve as the newest Schools Superintendent at his hometown Mahopac School District. Trinity Elementary School Principal Anthony DiCarlo announced that he would be resigning his position on Feb. 16, when he will travel north to take the helm in Mahopac after six years in New Rochelle. DiCarlo, a graduate of Iona College, has served as principal at Trinity since 2012 and is a longtime resident of Mahopac. Putnam County Legislature Appoints New Chairman
PUTNAM COUNTY N.Y. -- Joe Castellano is now leading the Putnam County Legislature. In a 9-0 vote, Joe Castellano, a Southeast resident who has served on the board since 2012, was voted in as chairman while Toni Addonzio was named deputy chairwoman. Castellano, who is running for a third term this year, replaces Ginny Nacerino. Addonizio, a Kent resident, is starting her second term.
