New York State Police released information on Wednesday, July 5 surrounding the crash that happened late last week in Columbia County, near the border of northwestern Dutchess County. 60-Year-Old Killed After Car Strikes Golf Cart In Region One person is dead and another is injured after a golf cart was struck by a car in the region, authorities said. The incident happened at around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, on Route 9 in Columbia County, in the town of Kinderhook. State Police said a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe was southbound when the golf cart entered the roadway near Maple Lane South and the vehicles collided. The impact killed the golf cart driver, identified as 60-year-old Dopson Wynter, of Kinderhook. The incident took place around 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 28 in Red Hook in Dutchess County. Two warrants were issued for the arrest of Deven Hotaling, who is from the Columbia County village of Philmont, after he failed to appear for court dates, State Police reported on Monday, Oct. 4. Police said in May of 2020, Hotaling was arrested by authorities in Livingston for forcibly stealing more than $1,700 from a ride share driver. Woman Accused Of Eating Cocaine During Traffic Stop In Area, State Police Say An area woman was arrested by state police after being stopped for a traffic violation was allegedly found eating cocaine in order to destroy evidence. Brigid Fonda, age 54, was arrested on Thursday, June 10, after being stopped in Columbia County on Route 9 in Livingston in her 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a violation, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Fire Destroys Barn, Another Structure At Area Business More than 40 firefighters battled a blaze that destroyed a barn and another structure at a business in the area. It broke out just before 9 p.m. Sunday, May 16 in Dutchess County. The Red Hook Fire Company, along with the Tivoli Fire Department were dispatched to the fire at A-W Coon & Sons at 412 Route 199 in Red Hook, said John Lauffer, spokesman for the Red Hook Fire Company. The fire started around 3 p.m. Sunday, at 123 Shookville Road, said Jeffrey Galm, second assistant chief for the Milan Fire Department. Chief Kurt Mizgier was first to arrive on the scene and found flames through an exterior wall and roof, Galm said.
