Area Home Built In 1795 Heavily Damaged By Fire A LaGrange home built in 1795 received heavy damage following a fire on the second floor and the left side of the home, the LaGrange Fire Department said. The fire started around 10:40 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 15 Skidmore Road, said LaGrange Fire Chief Barry Ward. Arriving units found heavy fire on the second floor of the left side of the home, he added. Firefighters were able to make a quick attack and had extinguished the flames within an hour or so and cleared the scene by 1 p.m., he said. Fire Destroys Two-Story Home In Putnam A fast-moving fire destroyed a Putnam County two-story home Sunday. The fire broke around 3:35 p.m. at the home in Kent on Hortontown Road, the Kent Fire Department said.  When firefighters arrived, they found a fully-involved fire on the second-floor of the home that is located close to the Dutchess County border.  Mutual aid crews included Carmel, East Fishkill, Lake Carmel, and Putnam Valley fire departments, along with help from the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team and the Putnam County Fire Police, the department said.
