$132K Project: New Downtown Crosswalks Coming To Peekskill
Several new crosswalks will be coming to a downtown area in Northern Westchester as part of a $132,000 project meant to improve safety. The new pedestrian crosswalks will be coming to downtown Peekskill as part of the city's ongoing $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative, according to New York State Sen. Pete Harckham, who announced that he had secured a $100,000 state grant for the project on Monday, Oct. 9. A former mayor in Northern Westchester announced his intention to run for a seat in the New York State Assembly. Former Peekskill Mayor Andre Rainey announced that he would run for New York State Assembly in the 95th District to replace longtime Assemblywoman Sandra Galef, who announced she would be retiring after serving two decades in office on Monday, Jan. 10. Two Area Municipalities Will Get $10M Through NY Revitalization Initiative
A pair of Hudson Valley communities have become the latest to be awarded millions to revitalize their downtown spaces and grow the economy. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that both Ossining in Northern Westchester and Haverstraw in Rockland County have been awarded a $10 million Downtown Revitalization (DRI) award. A dozen projects are planned in a Northern Westchester municipality that was awarded a $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) award.
