Putnam County Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence Task Force Launched Officers with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department have initiated a domestic and sexual violence task force. Numerous organizations and law enforcement agencies, including New York State Police, the Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County, the County Probation Department and the Kent, Carmel, Cold Spring and Brewster Police Departments, worked together to assist with the launching of the task force, which is the latest initiative from Putnam Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center. Man Charged With Sending Threatening Letters To County Sheriff, Judge, Police Officer In Putnam A 46-year-old man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he sent threatening letters to the county sheriff, a judge and a police officer in Putnam. During the month of November 2018, Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. received a letter via US Mail in which the writer threatened to harm him and commit criminal offenses against his family members, according to the sheriff's office. Putnam Woman Dies In Fire A 52-year-old Philipstown woman died in an overnight fire at the Stepping Stone Group Home, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. The fire, which started around 11:50 p.m. Thursday, at the center at 345 Route 301, sent multiple fire department to the scene, said Putnam County Sheriff's Capt. Lisa Ortolano.  Arriving units discovered an active fire in a bedroom on the second floor of the residence.
