Man Charged With Sending Threatening Letters To County Sheriff, Judge, Police Officer In Putnam A 46-year-old man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he sent threatening letters to the county sheriff, a judge and a police officer in Putnam. During the month of November 2018, Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. received a letter via US Mail in which the writer threatened to harm him and commit criminal offenses against his family members, according to the sheriff's office. Putnam Woman Dies In Fire A 52-year-old Philipstown woman died in an overnight fire at the Stepping Stone Group Home, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. The fire, which started around 11:50 p.m. Thursday, at the center at 345 Route 301, sent multiple fire department to the scene, said Putnam County Sheriff's Capt. Lisa Ortolano.  Arriving units discovered an active fire in a bedroom on the second floor of the residence.
