The incident occurred in Dutchess County on Sunday, April 21, on Main Street in Beacon. According to Lt. Thomas Figlia of the Beacon Police, officers responded to a call for a man wearing gray sweatpants, a grey hoodie, and sunglasses who was threatening to shoot people on Main Street. Retired Police Officer Who Served In Hudson Valley For Decades Dies A police department in Northern Westchester is mourning the loss of a retired officer who served communities in the Hudson Valley for decades.  The Peekskill Police Department announced the death of retired officer John Lynch on Wednesday, Oct. 25 in a post on social media.  According to the department, Lynch served with both the Beacon and Peekskill Police Departments for almost 25 years between the 1960s and 1980s. Most of this time was spent in Peekskill, the department added.  After his retirement, Lynch moved to Arizona, where he had been at the time of his death. …

Man Killed, Officer Injured In Head-On Area Crash, Police Say A 49-year-old man was killed and an officer injured during a two-vehicle head-on crash. It happened in Dutchess County shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, in Beacon. Derron E. Holmes, of Beacon, was killed in the crash involving a Subaru Outback and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The incident took place around 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, on Hillside Road, said Beacon Police Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson. An unidentified woman was saved with a dose of Narcan, he said. Pedestrian Injured In Beacon Hit-Run Police are asking the public's help in their search for a suspect in a hit-and-run incident in which a pedestrian was injured after being hit by an automobile. It occurred on Monday, Jan. 7 at about  6:40 p.m. at the intersection of West Main Street and Bank Street in Beacon. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Beacon Police said.  A description of the vehicle involved has not been released.
