Popular Bakers Open New Store In Croton-On-Hudson: 'Home Away From Home' A pair of bakers who have built a reputation for quality bread have opened their first retail store in Northern Westchester. The Hudson Oven opened a new physical retail store to the public in Croton-on-Hudson at 385 South Riverside Ave. on Sunday, Oct. 15, the owners announced.  The store, owned by Chase and Madison Harnett, will provide a space for the couple to sell their homemade sourdough bread, soups, stews, biscuits, cookies, salads, scones, and other baked goods to customers for the first time.  In their announcement, the couple said they wanted to create a "home away from home for…

Former Baker At Reader’s Digest Turns 104 Josephine DeSilva, a Fairfield County resident and former baker at Reader’s Digest in Northern Westchester, is celebrating her 104th birthday at Bethel Nursing Home. DeSilva has resided at Bethel Nursing Home in Ossining since 2016. She is the oldest of 12 children and worked as a baker for Reader’s Digest. DeSilva and her husband, Manuel raised their family in Pleasantville before he passed away. She is the mother to Josephine of Briarcliff Manor and Manuel of New Hampshire (deceased). Hudson Valley Girl Competes In Food Network Baking Competition A 12-year-old Westchester girl will be competing in a Food Network baking show. Nyah Rosado is competing on Season 6 of "Kids Baking Championship," airing Monday, Jan. 7. The student at Albert Leonard Middle School in New Rochelle describes herself as very competitive, playing basketball, lacrosse and soccer. If she wins, Nyah wants a tattoo that says she won Kids Baking Championship. She and 11 other junior bakers will be judged and hosted by Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman.
