According to a statement from The Studio and the Cultural Arts Coalition, there are two separate workshops – one at 2:30 p.m. on March 4 for middle school students and another at 4:15 p.m. on the same day for high school students.
Among the specific topics organizers expect will be discussed are genetics, biology and synthetic biology, according to The Studio. Students also will engage in hands-on activities and demonstrations that include extracting DNA from wheat germ seeds or strawberries.
According to organizers, each session is expected to offer an ethics forum and a question and answer session for students and parents regarding college, research and the process of becoming a scientist.
