The students compose one of only 75 teams that made it to the super-regionals out of 5,000 teams that began the FTC competition earlier in the school year.
They made it this far by winning first place in the regional robotics alliance competition of FTC at Pace University on Feb. 21 and by coming in first at the Lower Hudson Valley FTC qualifying tournament held earlier in the month.
The students competing in Scranton are: Zach O’Neill, Richard Raiano, Jason Betham and Kristin Komendowski, all of Mahopac; Brandon Visoky, of Putnam Valley; Sean Hansen and Dalton Waldock, both of Briarcliff; Calyx Davis, of North Salem; Cris Garzon, of Peekskill ; and Alexis Naclerio, of Somers.
The winners will go on to the FTC World Championship in St. Louis.
The finalists also just won the "think" award for their engineering notebook at the FTC competition at the University of Vermont last weekend.
