Dutchess Man Charged With Driving 105 In 45 MPH Zone In Putnam

A deputy observed a speeding motorist commit several traffic violations on Route 9 in the Town of Philipstown on Sunday, Jan. 3, at 9:52 p.m., police report.

At one point, the deputy paced the motorist traveling at 105 miles-per-hour in a 45 miles-per-hour zone, according to police.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Christopher C. Council, 32, of Fishkill, officials report.

The deputy arrested Council and charged him with reckless driving, a misdemeanor, according to police.

The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released after posting $85 cash bail, officials report.

He is scheduled to appear the Town of Philipstown Justice Court on Wednesday, Feb. 3, according to police.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, officials report.
