It's Showtime For Planet Pluto As NASA Spacecraft Flies By

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. – NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft will fly closely by Pluto and Pluto’s moons Tuesday, nine years after its launch, according to NASA.

After launching on Jan. 19, 2006, New Horizons’ telescopic Long-Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) has taken hundreds of images of Pluto as it approaches the planet , said NASA in a February 2015 update.

The flyby is expected to occur around 7:50 a.m. Tuesday.
