Fdny Firefighter, 9/11 Responder Honored After Death From Cancer

CARMEL, N.Y. -- A New York City firefighter who died this week of an illness he believed to be related to his response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, was honored Friday, Jan. 8 by hundreds who were out to pay their respects, according to multiple reports.

Hundreds came out Friday to honor Thomas Kelly, who died of cancer Sunday, Jan. 3 at the age of 58. Kelly was a 17-year FDNY veteran who responded to the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Thomas Kelly, an FDNY firefighter for 17 years, died Sunday at the age of 58, according to News 12.

Kelly, who funeral was held at St. James Church, suffered from cancer, according to News 12.
