Citing data from Yelp, NewYorkUpstate has released its new report of the municipalities that feature the top businesses in categories ranging from best pizzeria to specialty stops such as vegetarian restaurants and sushi bars. Factors that determine ranking include the number of reviews, star ranking and number of negative reviews.”
The report only includes restaurants from what it considers as upstate - which is considered north of Westchester and Rockland counties - in the rankings. "Best" has been measured using an algorithm that looks at the number of reviews and star rating for a business, as well as other factors like the number of negative reviews and recency of reviews.
Pizzeria Posto on East Market Street in Rhinebeck took the top honors for their homemade, wood-fired pies. The report cited 126 reviews, which netted the restaurant 4.5 stars.
Pizzeria Posto made its debut in Rhinebeck several years ago, in November 2016. According to their website, "At Posto, we maintain high standards and a commitment to assure that you'll have a sensational dining experience. Our menu is unique and carefully constructed to showcase not only the talent of (chef) Patrick Amedeo but the love for his craft.”
In Orange County, Marina Restaurant & Pizza on Route 17M in Harriman finished 14th overall, with 56 reviewers giving them 4.5 stars.
The pizzeria’s website states that their commitment is to “meeting and exceeding your expectations with the best dine-in, take-out and general catering services in Harriman, we promise to pull everything together. You will be delighted with the end result and have a fabulous time enjoying a meal from our kitchen. And that's the point: that you get to have a good time, too! Our job isn't really done until you're able to relax and enjoy yourself at our pizzeria restaurant.
Benvenuto Pizza Restaurant on Secor Road in Mahopac came in 21st for their fire oven pizzas and slices. The report cited 112 reviews that averaged to 4.5 stars.

To maintain a clean, comfortable and well-maintained premises for guests and staff. To provide at a fair price - nutritional, well-prepared meals using only quality ingredients.
