Locals Frequent Brewster Roadside Stand For Quality Honey, Wax Products

BREWSTER, N.Y. -- For the hundreds of motorists who drive past the Highlands shopping area on Route 312 in Brewster each day, there is one constant: the white truck parked in a small clearing that serves as a roadside honey/bee product stand.

Mike Bruen has been manning the honey truck for the last eight years at the same location, selling bee-keeping and farm-related items such as bee pollen, royal jelly, bee's wax, candles, and lots of honey, in various styles.

"I get a lot of return customers," Bruen told Daily Voice. "In order to sell here I have to be a veteran, so we get a lot of people who appreciate that fact. We also get a lot of people coming back because the products are great for allergies, energy, and the honey is a more natural sugar."

Beekeeping is in Bruen's family, as his father and grandfather both kept bees. He also has a working farm on Brewster Hill Road, Rivertop Farm.
