Whether you'd like a big flock or just a few as pets, this workshop will cover all the basics of raising chickens on almost any amount of property.
Learn how to start chicks successfully, about different coop designs, predators and deterrents, types of feeds and supplements to keep your chickens healthy, local regulations regarding keeping chickens on residential property, and much more!
The class will be taught by Putnam Valley Grange’s own Nancy McDaid, backyard farmer and chicken enthusiast for many years.
The program will include the use of numerous photographs, diagrams and charts, examples of the equipment and tools used in caring for chickens and their eggs, and perhaps even a few guest chickens.
