Motorists Trapped In Flooded Waters Rescued By Stamford FD Stamford firefighters were kept on the run rescuing residents in flooded vehicles late Thursday afternoon through the evening after a line of heavy thunderstorms rolled through the area causing extensive flooding. The Stamford 911 Center began receiving calls at 4:54 p.m. Thursday, for people trapped in flooded cars at the intersection of East Main Street and Myrtle Avenue, underneath the Railroad underpass, said Stamford Fire Capt. Motorcyclist Critically Injured Following Crash With Van In Stamford A 22-year-old Stamford man suffered life-threatening injuries during a crash with a van Monday afternoon. The crash occurred around 5 p.m. on East Main Street at Quintard Terrace in Stamford, said Sgt. Andrew Gallagher. During the crash, the 2001 Chevrolet Venture van was traveling eastbound on East Main Street turning left onto Quintard Terrace, when it collided with the 2007 Suzuki GSXR 75 motorcycle traveling westbound, Gallagher said.  "Initial indications are that the motorcycle was traveling at an excessive speed," Gallagher said.
