The JV team also earned a bid to compete at Nationals for the first time, coached by Amanda Blasi and modified coach on special assignment with JV Coach Caitlin Maggi. This also marks the first time that the Rams' JV team is nationally-ranked. The junior varsity squad placed 13th in the nation at Nationals.
National competition was held at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Arena on Feb 11 and 12. According to coaches Chezdis Sanchez-Bors and Melissa Pennino, there were about 15,000 cheerleaders from across the nation and around the world competing. The competition starts as early as 7:30am and continues until after 10PM. There are up to 3 rounds for the bigger divisions and only one or two for the smaller divisions.
The NHSCC is the most prestigious cheerleading championship in the country. The competition was nationally televised on ESPN and ESPN2 to more than 100 million homes and 32 countries nationwide.
