WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - As Port Chester continues to mourn the loss of 14-year-old Chris Aguilar, security has been stepped up at the abandoned hospital where he died, which was a frequent hangout for teenagers.

Aguilar, who was a freshman at Port Chester High School, fell through the roof of the former United Hospital on Tuesday, falling several stories to his death in front of several of his friends, who were with him at the time.

Following the fall, security has increased patrols in the area of the former hospital. According to a News12 report , a security guard said they patrol the site every half-hour, though he had no answer about where they were when Aguilar fell.

Port Chester Mayor Richard Falanka noted that the incident is still under police investigation. Additional details are expected to be released as they become available.

The future of the site, which was purchased by Starwood Capital in 2006, is in question. Some locals have demanded the building be knocked down, while Starwood is hopeful of bringing a multi-million dollar, mixed-use development to the site, pending approvals in Port Chester.

No matter the future of the site, Port Chester continues to mourn the loss of the 14-year-old.

"The Port Chester Teachers Association mourns the loss of Chris Aguilar. Chris was an honor student who just completed his freshman year of Port Chester High School. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, teachers, and loved ones."
