For Stress

  • Think "Full," Not "Busy." Words are so powerful —in the end, you are what you think, said Dr. Blum. "Shift gears from the anxious, driven, never-enough-time feeling of 'busy' to 'full' or 'abundant' or 'rich.' These days will fly by, so be sure to smile, and enjoy them."
  • Preventive Scheduling: As you make appointments and plan your days, be kind to yourself. "You can choose to schedule a stressful, busy day or give yourself some space to breathe or exercise," said Blum. Don’t skip your morning meditation or exercise routine. Make the choice that puts you first.
  • Sleep: Lack of sleep promotes weight gain.

For Eating

  • Alternate eating clean with days of indulgence. After indulging at holiday parties, family gatherings and fun with friends, your body needs a break. "Eating clean means no alcohol, sugar, processed food or dairy," said Blum. "I recommend intermittent juice cleansing, whether a one-day ‘reboot’, or multi-day organic juice cleanse."
  • Find the balance. "On vacation, I keep my usual healthy food routine all day, and then relax a bit at dinner with a lovely wine and a delicious dessert," said Blum.
  • Stick to your self-care routine as much as possible:  Prioritize what's most important. "I make sure to exercise to release toxins and feel great.  This is the antidote for extra calories and brain fog from any sugar or alcohol I consumed the day before," she said.
