Winless Pelham Football Hosts Winless Eastchester

PELHAM, N.Y. – The Pelham Memorial High School football team will host Eastchester at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in a battle of 0-5 teams.

Both teams have struggled throughout the season, but one is guaranteed to earn its first victory of the year.

Pelham started the season with 33-0 and 40-0 losses before losing a close game to Mount Vernon in week three. Ossining and Byram Hills then beat Pelham soundly in back-to-back weeks.

Byram Hills dominated the Pelicans with big plays, including junior Ian Raun’s 87-yard touchdown run and 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Eastchester has fared slightly better this year, as the Eagles stayed competitive with Byram Hills in a 20-12 loss in week one and may have beaten Brewster last week were it not for a botched snap on a potentially game-winning field goal attempt.

The Eagles allowed Brewster’s Fernando Solis to rush for 138 yards and two touchdowns in the 21-20 loss.

Pelham has allowed 31.8 points per game this season and scored just 7.6 points per game. Eastchester, on the other hand, has given up 32.8 points per game and scored 15.6 points per game.

Neither team has a chance to make the playoffs in Class A, but one of them will remove the zero from the front of its record.
