Pelham Manor Police Arrest Hostile Man at BJ's

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. – Pelham Manor police arrested a man at the BJ's Wholesale on Pelham Parkway on Saturday morning. The man became increasingly hostile toward the officers before they placed him under arrest.

Police asked the man if he had a BJ's card, as per store policy, shortly after 10 a.m. but he kept walking. When police questioned him again, the man argued that they were not asking anyone else so he should not have to show them his card.

The man cursed at the officer and turned to a crowd of other shoppers for support. He cursed again and an unknown crowd member cursed with him. The officer told them to move along as they had caused a disturbance in the store.

A crowd began to form and the unknown crowd member walked away cursing. Police asked the man to calm down and leave, but he refused and began to become increasingly hostile and disorderly.

The man called someone on his cell phone and asked the person to come to the store to aid him. The officer called headquarters for backup at that point due to the man's hostile nature.

Police arrested the man, who is due in court on July 14 at 6 p.m.
