Officer Michael Tillistrand Regains Consciousness

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. – Officer Michael Tillistrand regained consciousness and spoke during the weekend, according to Pelham Manor Police Chief Al Mosiello.

Tillistrand remains in stable but critical condition in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Jacobi Medical Center. Mosiello did not know when specifically Tillistrand regained consciousness.

Mosiello said he did not see Tillistrand during the weekend but planned to visit him Monday. Tillistrand’s family was able to see him at the hospital.

Mosiello said Monday that no charges have yet been filed against Jillian Ruggiero, the 27-year-old driver of the car that struck Tillistrand while he was crossing Boston Post Road last Tuesday evening. She is the daughter of Pelham Manor Fire Chief Joseph Ruggiero.

Mosiello said Friday that it will take time for the Pelham Manor Police Department to get a report from Westchester County police and to conduct its own investigation.

Doctors at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx performed an emergency craniotomy on Tillistrand last Tuesday night to relieve the pressure in his brain, according to Mosiello
